Whiskey is curious, playful and interested in everything around him. He has a lovely Western pleasure trot and carries himself as though he has a good foundation of training under saddle. He does need an intermediate handler/rider to help him channel his energy on occasion. He is going to make a great partner in the right home.

Leading and Ground Manners: Can be pushy in a flat halter; responds well to a rope halter and lead rope Grooming: Quiet and respectful. Able to quietly stand tied. Occasional pawing noted but easily redirectable. Horse Care: Aside from the basics (feed, water, shelter, routine vet and hoof care), benefits from a daily joint supplement and an anti-inflammatory medication to treat mild hoof arthritis. General Demeanor: Calm, curious, “in your pocket”, occasionally sensitive to his environment Physical Capability: Low-level flat exercise, such as trail or pleasure riding, several times per week. April is a very social horse, interactive and interested in the world around her. She has a strong sense of self and does well with consistent handling. She has PPID that is easily controlled with daily medication. Under saddle, she responds beautifully to leg cues at the walk/trot/canter and is gaining confidence with each training session. Could April be your new trail partner?

Mya is an 8 year old Tennesse Walking Horse cross that we pulled from a kill pen back in November 2022. She is young, healthy, energetic, and exhibits habits that make us think she was used as a cart horse. She is sweet, gentle, and a very quick learner who has unlimited potential. She is best suited for an experienced rider interested in a forward horse. If you are looking for a young horse as a Spring project, Mya is going to be your gal.

Horse Care: Requires no extra maintenance aside from the basics (feed, water, shelter, routine vet and hoof care) General Demeanor: Calm, gentle, agreeable, may show mild anxiety in new situations but has never spooked Physical Capability: Gaited but needs further training to maintain gait(s). Unlimited potential with training as she learns quickly and retains skills taught. Better suited mentally for getting out and going than ring work; possibly trail, pleasure, obstacle or endurance riding.

Valentine is a very sweet and easy to handle mare pony that came to VEWS as an owner-surrender in June 2022 with an EPM diagnosis. We have treated her EPM and, with our veterinarian’s recommendation, have decided that Valentine will be best suited as a companion horse. Valentine is looking for a quiet place to spend her days with another horse and her forever family.

Sandy

Sandy is a sweet and well-mannered Haflinger mare we pulled from a kill pen in February 2023. She has been cleared to leave quarantine and will soon be joining our rehab barn. Keep an eye on our Facebook page to stay tuned on Sandy’s progress in rehab.

Nada

Name: Nada (registered as Passionada)

Status: In Rehab

Nada is a beautiful registered Trakehner mare that came to VEWS in August 2022 as an owner-surrender. After a lifetime as a broodmare, Nada is appreciating her soft landing with us. She has tested positive for EPM exposure with mild symptoms. She is currently being treated, and we are hopeful her treatment will help her become more comfortable. When she is ready to find her forever home, Nada will be best suited as a companion.
