Gypsy is a quiet and watchful mare that came to VEWS an owner surrender due to tragedy.  She has a racing tattoo that is unreadable, so we can only guess what her former life was like. Gypsy gets along well with other horses and is a calming influence within the herd.  Gypsy is best suited as a companion horse due to some arthritis.

Gypsy is now available for visits from potential adopters.

Leading and Ground Manners: Can be easily led with a flat halter and lead rope

Grooming: Quiet and respectful. Able to quietly stand tied. Displays no vices.

Horse Care: In addition to the basics (feed, water, shelter, and routine vet and farrier care), requires daily anti-inflammatory medication to treat arthritis discomfort and a hoof supplement

General Demeanor: Generally quiet and agreeable; may show mild anxiety in new situations

Horse Physical Capability:  Best suited as a companion horse due to generalized arthritis, most noticeable in hind limbs.

To be considered as an adopter, the first step is to complete an adoption application

Luna is a calm and sweet mare that recently joined the VEWS herd. She came to VEWS as an owner surrender that reportedly hadn’t been handled for quite a while, but she has really nice ground manners. She runs to meet us at meal time, leads nicely, and stands quietly for grooming and hoof care. She is green under saddle but willing; she would make a great partner for an experienced rider interested in teaching her or an intermediate rider with a trainer.

Leading and Ground Manners: Can be led with a flat halter and leadrope

Grooming: Quiet and respectful. Displays no vices.

Horse Care: Aside from the basics (feed, water, shelter, routine vet and hoof care), Luna benefits from a hoof supplement and requires an annual dental float to correct years of neglect.

General Demeanor: Quiet, agreeable, calm, level-headed, not sensitive to her environment

Horse Riding Capability: Green under saddle; accepts a saddle and rider. Needs an experienced rider interested in teaching her or an intermediate rider with a trainer.

Beau is a handsome and spirited gelding that came to VEWS due to the sudden loss of his owner. His previous owner had found him at an auction a few years prior to her passing, so he has been bounced around a little bit. He has a curious and cautious nature. He has just come back from training and will do well with an experienced rider who can make the commitment to build a bond of trust and respect to help him stay confident in all situations.

Beau is now available for visits from potential adopters.

Leading and Ground Manners: Can be lead easily with a flat halter and lead rope

Grooming: Quiet and respectful. Able to quietly stand tied. Displays no vices.

General Demeanor: Generally quiet and agreeable; may show mild anxiety in new situations

Reba is an energetic sorrel mare that came to VEWS as an owner surrender in April 2022. She is healthy and spunky and does best with a companion nearby. She is green under saddle but willing to learn. She needs an experienced rider interested in teaching her or an intermediate rider with a trainer.

We are now accepting applications for and scheduling visits with Reba.

Tucker is a calm and quiet pony-sized gelding that VEWS pulled from a kill pen in early May 2022. He is an in-your-pocket pony that is just about as sweet and gentle as they come. He has a fused hind hock that limits the amount of weight he can carry and the length of time he can be ridden. He would be the perfect first pony for a young child to be led around for short walks or would make a great companion horse.

We are now accepting applications for Tucker.

Leading and Ground Manners: Can be led with a flat halter and leadrope

Grooming: Quiet and respectful, displays no vices, stands quietly tied

Horse Care: Aside from the basics (feed, water, shelter, routine vet and hoof care), will require anti-inflammatories and joint supplementation if he is to be ridden (to be determined with a veterinarian’s advice)

General Demeanor: Quiet, agreeable, level-headed, not sensitive to his environment

Horse Riding Capability: May be capable of carrying a very light rider for a very short time on flat surfaces at the walk only (to be determined with a veterinarian’s advice)
